Went to ZOO! =D
Dismissal at 1.20pm,went to eat lunch at canteen. After eating went to amphitheatre to assemble for the attendance. Waited and waited until 2pm. Around 2.10pm,off we go to zoo. In the bus,we[whole class] sing and have lots of fun. Everyone DAMN HIGH! ;) Reach there about 3.15pm, went to auditorium for some small briefing about the maths trail. After briefing,about 3.20+pm off we go for the maths trail! ;P
The maths trail last 90 minutes lor.
Got five stations--->Station A,B,C,D and E.
INSTRUCTIONS:
-This trail should take 90minutes to complete.
-Study the trail map carefully.
-There are 5 stations altogether.
-Complete the tasks at a station before moving to the next one.
-Keep to your group and work together.
-Look out for moving vehicles when crossing the roads in the Zoo.
-Eating is not allowed while doing the trail.
-Do not litter.
-Do not feed the animals.
-Do not provoke or get too close to the free-ranging animals.They may feel threatened and react by chasing or attacking you.
-Upon completion of the trail,return to the Learning Centre promptly.

STATION A.
The Treetops Trail is an ecological display of some animals of the rainforests.There are nearly 100 animals in the Treetops Train vicinity.
As you enter the Treetops Trail,read the signage and complete the following sentence.
About 6%of earth's land is covered by tropical rainforest and this supports over 50% of animal and plant life.

The Treetops Trail is a mixed exhibit that displays the different species found in the treetops and forest floor of rainforests.

As you look down at the wooden floor,you will find regular octagons at both corners of the platform.Study one corner carefully and answer the following questions.

As you leave the Treetops Trail,you will see four white pillars at the exit.

STATION B.
The white tiger is very rare.Its unusual coloration is the expression of a recessive mutant gene.We are very fortunate to have them in the Singapore Zoo.
Study the signages of the white tiger and complete the following passage.
Mohan,a white tiger was caught from the wild i) 56 years ago by a Maharajah in India.White tigers are rare as out of 50 000 in the wild only ii) 5 may be white.The three white tigers at the Zoo are descendants of Mohan.They are siblings and are iii) 6 years old.
Only iv) 7 000 wild tigers are alive today.100 years ago our world had more than 100 000 tigers. Tigers are fast disappearing at an approximate rate of iv) 7per year. If tigers continue to disappear at this rate,in approximately vi) 1000years' time,tigers would become extinct.
A Bengal tiger,like Omar can measure vii) 3 in length,i.e.from nose to tail and stand viii) 1 m high at the shoulder. He can weigh more than ix)230kilos and has a massive head and jaws. A racing tiger can sprint at a maximum speed of approximately x)? m/s(give your answer correct to two significant figures).
A tiger eats about 10kg of meat everyday.600kg of meat will be sufficient to feed the white tigers for xi)60days. If 3kg of meat cost $10,it will cost the Zoo xii)$700 to feed the white tigers for a week.
